BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEN (BESS)
Commercial battery storage systems (often called BESS—Battery Energy Storage Systems) are essentially giant rechargeable batteries designed to support businesses, industrial plants, or the electrical grid.
Think of it as a massive "power reservoir" that captures electricity when it's cheap or plentiful and releases it when it's expensive or scarce.
A commercial BESS is typically:
- 100 kWh → 10+ MWh
- 400–1500 V DC battery bus
- 3-phase AC (400 V / 480 V / MV via transformer)
- Designed for daily cycling, grid interaction, and revenue stacking
